Whistler Mountain in Canada is a mind blowing experience. You can look, turning around, and see mountains completely encircling you. In this painting, the delicate cloud winds its way into the mountain. creating a great counterpoint to the massive rock, tress and snow. This painting won the Fine Art Studio Online FAV 15% Award for Outstanding Watercolor in November 2009.
Early one spring morning, at the end of our hike around Little Diamond Lake (Spokane), I was entranced by the sight of grasses against the lake, the sun glinting off the lake, the colorful boats tied to the dock and the path and forest beyond. My teacher was so excited about this painting that he said if it were full size, I could enter it into the American Watercolor Society Exhibition.
This scene is on the beach at Seaside, Oregon. My husband insisted on walking ahead of me, shoes slung over his back. Struck by the way the light shone around him and his footprints in the sand, I painted this ethereal vision of color and light.
Can’t you just feel the rain coming in? I love the mood the colors of a sunset sky bestow on this scene.
I played with watercolors for this painting, giving it a colorful background, than after it dried, I added the scene. This was from my imagination, not a photo, so it is a change from my normal approach. I wanted the sun to be shining through the clouds. I love the flow of colors and shapes you see here.
Beautiful,Trish! You are so good!
