This is my mother-in-law, a wonderful, loving person who, as you can tell here, has a beautiful spirit. I made up the background to enhance her eyes. When I asked for her permission to paint this image, she said yes, but couldn’t understand why I would want to paint her!

This is my husband, looking out at the ocean at Hanalei Beach, Kauai, Hawaii. He loves golf, but was miffed that I would paint an image of him wearing a baseball cap when he rarely does actually wear one, unless he’s golfing.

As a Christmas gift for his father, I painted this image of my nephew, Jake. It was a challenge creating a background that gave expression to this young man’s exuberance.

This sweet 3 year old, Madigan, got caught in a rare reflective mood for her active life of discovery. This look captivated me, so I had to paint her. I felt great peace as I painted this portrait and I believe that helped in its execution.
